Italy – The Italian Communications Regulatory Authority launches the tender process for the allocation of rights of use of the L band frequencies
On 13 January 2015, the Board of the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority (Autorità per le Garanzie nelle Comunicazioni – AGCOM) approved a resolution to commence the procedures for the allocation of the rights of use for the L band radio frequencies, to be used for the broadband and ultra-broadband with mobile 4G technology. Through such resolution, AGCOM is to launch a public consultation concerning the methods for allocating the L band, the definition of the lots of frequencies that will be put to tender and the rules for the auction. The auction will be carried out by the Ministry of Economic Development on the basis of the tender rules that will be approved by AGCOM after completion of the soon to be launched public consultation. The tender rules should be issued by AGCOM within March 15, 2015.
