Home Secretary, Theresa May, spoke at the Conservative party's conference on 4 October 2011. Whilst Ms May's comments about 'Maya the cat' have been reported widely, she also restated the party's aim to reduce and control immigration and highlighted that the Government will be looking at all possible routes to continue to reduce net migration to tens of thousands.

Speaking at the International Bar Association immigration conference on 22 September, the Immigration Minister, Damian Green, stated the Government's intention to further restrict the tier 2 ICT route.
