This afternoon, after months of speculation and numerous amendments to the (preliminary) draft, the Belgian Parliament has finally approved the law “introducing the Companies and Associations Code and containing various provisions”.

As detailed in our previous publication (link), the objective of the Companies and Associations Code is to modernize Belgian company law, with key principles of simplification, flexibility and compliance with European evolutions.

In light of the approval of the Belgian Companies and Associations Code, which is set to enter into force on May 1, 2019 already, DLA Piper will issue weekly newsletters, each highlighting the most important changes within a certain topic (such as directors’ liability, the new private limited liability company, transitional regime, governance, conflicts of interests…).
