The FCA has published a consultation paper on its future mission, which is designed to provide a guiding set of principles around the strategic choices the FCA makes and will inform the FCA's future strategy and day-to-day work. Key themes in the consultation include: (i) requesting views on whether there is a need for a more specific Handbook review; (ii) the scope of regulation, as the FCA notes that the lines between regulated and unregulated activities have become blurred in recent years; (iii) more transparency on when the FCA does or does not intervene; and (iv) requesting views on the FCA’s current role relating to competition, supervision and enforcement. Comments are invited by 26 January 2017.
