The EU Parliament has voted on the draft General Data Protection Regulation. The EU Parliament now cannot change its position, even if the composition of the Parliament changes following the May 2014 elections. The Council of Ministers meets in June 2014 and will need to adopt the regulation using the "ordinary legislative procedure" for it to become law. The EU Parliament also voted in support of a LIBE report on the proposed data protection directive concerning law enforcement, and of a LIBE report on mass surveillance.
