On November 7, 2014, the United States Supreme Court agreed to hear the case of King v. Burwell, which challenges the subsidies presently being given under Federal Health Insurance Exchanges.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) specifically provides for subsidies in the case of state exchanges, but there is no language allowing such subsidies in the case of federal exchanges.

A ruling against such federal subsidies could gut the ACA and cause the loss of benefits for thousands of Americans. This case is especially important for Oregonians since Oregon's health care exchange participants are being migrated to a federal exchange.
