Spain - The CNMC sanctions two companies for inappropriate use of numbering resources The Spanish National Market and Competition Commission (CNMC) sanctioned two companies and imposed a fine amounting to €310.000 for inappropriate use of two short numbers to provide adult services, contrary to law. In both instances, numerous calls were made to different subscribers from a mobile number. After several rings, the caller would hang up. When the subscribers attempted to return the call, they would receive an audio recording that offered adult services and asked them to call the short numbers. According to the CNMC, the acts by the two companies were tantamount to a serious infringement of the Spanish General Telecommunications Law.
