In a recently released analysis, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) found that drilling is continuing to shift "out of the dry region of northeast Pennsylvania" and into the southwestern parts of Pennsylvania. Well drilling has become "increasingly focused" in the integrated region comprising West Virginia and southwest Pennsylvania. Beginning in early 2012, "the number of gas-directed rigs in Appalachia's wet regions surpassed the number of gas-directed rigs in the dry regions." For more, read the full analysis.
