On 13 September 2012, the Financial Services Ombudsman (FSO) published its Bi-Annual Review. Interestingly, complaints regarding payment protection insurance (PPI) accounted for 22% of all insurance-related complaints received in the first half of 2012. Over 74% of these related to alleged mis-selling of PPI. The remainder related to repudiation of PPI claims. Complaints regarding motor, household and life insurance account accounted for 14%, 13% and 10%, respectively, of complaints received by the FSO. Overall, insurance complaints increased by 15% (compared to the last half of 2011).
