In order to encourage more business immigration and investment, B.C. has made it easier for business immigrants starting new business ventures in B.C. to obtain permanent resident status. New minimum investment requirements have been set for the B.C. PNP’s three business categories. Applicants are also required to create a minimum number of new jobs for Canadians. The number of new jobs depends on the business category which applies to the foreign businessperson.

For the Business Skills and Regional Business PNP Categories, there is now a "Fast Track" option for nominee candidates who are in a position to move quickly to implement their business proposal. It offers expedited nomination for permanent residence, in return for which the nominee provides a conditionally refundable $125,000 deposit to the B.C. government.
