The Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Russian Federation (the “Ministry”) has announced plans to present by November for public discussion draft amendments to the federal law relating to the circulation of medical products.

Specifically, the proposed amendments concern (1) preparation to ratify the Convention on the Counterfeiting of Medical Products and Similar Crimes Involving Threats to Public Health (MEDICRIME); as well as (2) protection of the intellectual property rights of medical products under the requirements of the World Trade Organization. Once the forthcoming draft amendments have been published, we plan to issue a more detailed analysis of them in a future issue of the Legal Digest.
