EBA has written to the European institutions expressing concerns over the latest amendments to the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) introduced within the Trilogue. The amendments relate to cooperative institutions, recognition of multiple dividends and grandfathering. EBA stresses that the proposals need to be aligned with the overarching principle of strengthening the quality of capital. In another letter, EBA has called for a harmonisation of the method for calculating the transitional floors, which should act as a reliable backstop now that divergences in the application of risk weights have cast doubt on the credibility of regulatory benchmarks.
