On 23 November 2010, the Irish Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) published its bi-annual review, which contains information regarding complaints made against insurers between January and June 2010. 49.4% of the complaints received by the IFSO related to insurance. The highest numbers of insurance-related complaints were in respect of motor (21.5%), household building (17.2%) and payment protection (11.9%) insurance. The majority of all insurance-related complaints concerned repudiation of claims and settlement amounts.
