On 16 January 2007, the European Commission (“Commission”) approved the acquisition of C-Map, an Italian company producing electronic marine charts, by Boeing. Boeing is active worldwide in the commercial aircraft, defence and space industry services. The Commission concluded that the overlaps between the activities of Boeing and C-Map were limited and the merger would not significantly impede competition. To the extent that overlaps exist, in relation to navigational software and marine hardware devices, the Commission suggested that the parties’ activities in this market were minor and competing manufacturers have alternative sources of supply
