Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) announced yesterday that she would block President Obama’s nomination of Jack Lew to serve as the director of the Office of Management and Budget until the Obama Administration lifts its moratorium on deepwater drilling for oil and natural gas. In her letter describing her position to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Sen. Landrieu noted the substantial economic effects of the deepwater drilling moratorium and said, “I cannot in good conscience allow this nomination to proceed until I receive a commitment from Mr. Lew, the President, or another senior economic advisor to reverse these policies, which have been so detrimental to working families on the Gulf Coast.”
