The National Institute of Standards and Technology published its second round of smart grid technical standards October 25 that build on the initial framework issued in January 2010. The latest proposal, the “Framework and Roadmap for Smart Grid Interoperability Standards, Release 2.0,” includes an expanded chapter on cybersecurity, a new testing and certification chapter, and an update on the newly formed Smart Grid Interoperability Panel, and the framework is subject to a 30-day public comment period.
