On October 10, 2007 European Commission officials, along with their counterparts from national competition authorities, carried out surprise inspections at the premises of several international freight forwarding services. The sectors under investigation include freight transportation, customs clearance, warehousing and ground delivery services. The inspections are aimed at collecting evidence of suspected cartel activity in these markets. There is no deadline for completion of the Commission’s investigation; its duration depends on the complexity of the case and the degree of cooperation by the parties.
