On January 31, 2017, the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved the continuing use of Form CC-305, Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability, for an additional three years. Originally released by the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) on January 27, 2014, the self-identification form provides the mandatory format for federal government contractors to solicit disability status information from applicants and employees under Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act.
The original form was valid for three years and was set to expire on January 31, 2017, but OMB has now extended government contractors’ obligation to use this mandatory form until at least January 31, 2020. While no substantive changes were made, government contractors are nevertheless required to immediately use a new version of the form listing the January 31, 2020 expiration date.
In light of the renewal, government contractors should ensure that their disability self-identification processes incorporate the updated version of the OFCCP form. In addition, contractors who use an electronic version of the form must continue to mirror all aspects of the OMB-approved document, so they should update their e-form to incorporate the new January 31, 2020 expiration date.
