The Pensions Bill 2013-14 completed its report stage in the House of Lords on 26 February 2014. The DWP tabled an amendment which has been included in the draft bill which requires the Secretary of State to pass regulations which will require "work-based money purchase schemes" to disclose information to members about some or all of the transaction costs incurred by the scheme. The DWP is keen to increase transparency for members in relation to pension scheme charges, particularly due to the increasing take-up of pension arrangements by employees as a result of auto-enrolment. A formal response from the DWP in relation to its consultation (issued last year) regarding the capping of pension charges is still awaited.
