The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission ("CRTC") recently published new Frequently Asked Questions regarding Canada's anti-spam law ("CASL").

Among the questions is "Does section 6 of CASL apply to messages sent by non-profit organizations?".  The CRTC states that it does, but notes that there is an exemption with respect to registered charities where the primary purpose of the commercial electronic message is to raise funds for the charity.
