The Ontario Government established “Family Day” as new public (statutory) holiday. The inaugural Family Day will be Monday, February 18, 2008. Family Day will be observed on the third Monday in February each year. With the addition of “Family Day”, Ontario has a total of nine public holidays, including: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Employees are entitled to receive both public holiday pay and a day off from work on each public holiday.
