Citing the removal of platinum from the list of acceptable diesel fuel additives for on-road vehicles, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has written a letter to the International Platinum Group Metals Association, stating that it “no longer has a need for the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) assessment of halogenated platinum salts,” and it will table further efforts on that IRIS assessment. EPA says that it will archive the external review draft report titled “Toxicological Review of Halogenated Platinum Salts and Platinum Compounds.”
