MiFID Connect originally identified 5 areas to work on:
- Suitability and appropriateness
- Investment research
- Best Execution
- Conflicts of interest
As matters have developed it has been concluded that the final outputs of MiFID Connect should be three guidelines confirmed by the FSA – on outsourcing, suitability and appropriateness and investment research. Because there is extensive material available on best execution from the European Commission, the Committee of European Securities Regulators and the FSA, MiFID Connect has decided not to produce further guidelines on best execution. MiFID Connect has also decided not to produce guidelines on conflicts of interest but will produce an information memorandum on conflicts of interest that will not be confirmed by the FSA. MiFID Connect aims to publish the information memorandum in September 2007.
