There is a new Exemption Decree (Vrijstellingsbesluit). This Decree lists the processing activities which are exempt from notification with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

In principle, fully or partly automated processing activities - and some non-automated processing activities - should be notified to the Data Protection Authority. The most common processing activities are exempt from notification such as the customer administration, the personnel administration, the salary administration, camera surveillance etc. In order to be exempt all requirements of the Exemption Decree have to be complied with. There is a number of general conditions and a number of specific conditions listed for each exempt activity.

The Exemption Decree would be expanded and clarified, but the result is disappointing. To read the Dutch Decree click here.
