On 26 May 2011, the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks ("Rospatent") was renamed the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (the "Federal Service"), pursuant to a presidential decree.
Specifically, the presidential decree stipulates that the Federal Service:
- is the legal successor of Rospatent as well as of the Ministry of Justice within the sphere of its responsibility for the research and development of military, special and dual-purpose equipment; and
- is subordinate to the Government.
