The Competition Commission (CC) reversed its initial findings and approved the proposed merger between Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc and Live Nation, Inc. Live Nation is the world's largest concert promoter while Ticketmaster is a leading seller of tickets to events. In its provisional report the CC concluded that the merger was likely to result in increased prices and might make it harder for new entrants (such as CTS Eventim) to break into the UK market for ticket sales for live music events. Following the submission of new evidence, the CC eventually concluded that the merger was unlikely to impact on the likelihood of new entrants and therefore decided to clear the merger. However, the parties still face anti-trust hurdles in the United States.
