We reported in our July newsletter on the introduction into Parliament of the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill (the Bill) and set out the main corporate aspects of it which cover improving transparency in the ownership and control of companies (principally through the introduction of the PSC register to provide details of individuals with 'significant control' over companies), changes to company filings requirements and changes to the directors' disqualification regime. You will find the article here.
On 16 July the Bill had its second reading in the House of Commons and was committed to a House of Commons Public Bill Committee (the Committee) for a detailed examination of the Bill's provisions. Then on 18 July the Committee published a request for written evidence from those with relevant expertise or experience or a special interest in the matters covered in the Bill.
The Committee is expected to meet for the first time on Tuesday 14 October and proceedings must be concluded by Thursday 6 November at the latest and this is the final date for submission of written evidence. Details of how written evidence should be submitted are set out in the House of Commons press release which you will find here.
If you would like assistance with putting together written evidence for submission please contact your usual Hogan Lovells contact or one of the listed contacts.
