Following the publication last month of the Scheme of the Gambling Control Bill, the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality has been appointed to review and consider the Scheme, and report back to the Government. This parliamentary committee has issued an invitation for written submissions by interested parties. The deadline for submissions is Friday, 30 August 2013.
The Committee has indicated that submissions should contain the following:
- A brief introduction, stating the area of expertise of the individual or group making the submission;
- Any factual information considered to be of relevance to the Scheme;
- Any recommendations. These should be as specific as possible, should address each Head of the Bill individually, and should be summarised at the end of the document;
- If the submission exceeds 10 pages then an executive summary should be provided.
It is also suggested in the invitation that parties making submissions may be invited to appear in public sessions of Committee meetings.
The invitation for submissions and a list of the politicians sitting on the Committee, can be accessed here.
