There has been an increasing number of unsolicited letters which appear to be fraudulent.

Most recently, an organisation calling itself ‘Goldman Rosenstain & Partners’ has been sending notices to owners of trade mark registrations in New Zealand, offering to renew their trade marks at a highly inflated cost. The letters and website address provided look as though they are from an authentic intellectual property provider, however, please be aware that neither are genuine.

This issue appears to be widespread and has been flagged by the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) as a something to treat with caution. Further information including a list of suspicious organisations is provided on their website here.
