Bill C-17, An Act to Amend the Foods and Drugs Act (Vanessa’s Law) has proceeded through the committee process without amendment and was read for a third time in the Senate today. As previously reported, once in force the amendments will empower the federal Minister of Health, in specified circumstances, to disclose confidential business information in the health products sector without notifying or obtaining consent from the person to whose business or affairs the information relates. The disclosure provisions will come into force upon the bill receiving Royal Assent.
