Hexagonal wire mesh from China
On 21 July 2017, the Unit of International Trade Practices (UPCI) of the Ministry of Economy published on the Federal Official Gazette the Resolution declaring the initiation of the sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed to the importation of hexagonal wire mesh originating in the People's Republic of China, regardless of the country of export.
By means of this publication initiates the sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed to hexagonal wire mesh originating in China, imported under Mexican tariff items 7314.19.03, 7314.19.99, 7314.31.01, 7314.41.01 and 7314.49.99, or any other.
The definitive antidumping duty will remain valid during the sunset review, which is of 0.45 dollars per kilogram.
- On 2 July 2002 the determination of a definitive antidumping duty of 2.80 dollars per kilogram was published in the Federal Official Gazette.
- On 2 April 2009 the antidumping duty was reduced from 2.80 to 0.45 dollars per kilogram determining its validity for 5 more years, derived from the first sunset review.
- On 27 June 2013 the Final Resolution of the second sunset review was published in the Federal Official Gazette, extending the validity of the antidumping duty for 5 more years.
- On 16 June 2017, Deacero, S.A.P.I. de C.V. declared its interest in initiating this new sunset review.
Deadline for filing arguments and evidence
National producers, importers, exporters, foreign entities or any other person who evidences having legal interest in this investigation may file a response to the format, arguments and evidence no later than 30 August 2017.
Product subject to investigation
The product subject to this sunset review is the low carbon wire mesh, woven or interlaced in the shape of an hexagon, galvanized or with zinc welding that can be applied after the wires have been woven.
The gauge of the wires is in the range of 18 to 25 with diameters from 0.51 to 1.20 mm. The dimensions of the hexagon aperture range from ½ to 2 inches. The most common dimensions are 13 mm (½ inch), 20 mm (¾ inch), 25 mm (1 inch), 38 mm (1 ½ inches) and 50 mm (2 inches).
This product is known as hexagonal mesh, although commercially it is known as hexagonal galvanized wire mesh, hexagonal iron wire net, hexagonal wire net, hexagonal wire mesh or hexagonal hot dipped galvanized mesh. The domestically produced similar product is commercially identified as a hexagonal mesh and also as chicken wire fence.
Investigation and Damage Analysis periods
The investigation period is from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017 and the damage analysis period is from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2017.
