• A study commissioned by the Belgian-based European Federation for Transport and Environment has revealed that French, Italian and Japanese car manufacturers made the most environmentally friendly cars for sale in Europe in 2006. French car makers PSA Peugeot Citroën and Renault as well as Italian competitor Fiat topped the list for the lowest average levels of Co2 emissions (WSJE, November 15, 2007, p. 2)
  • On November 15, 2007, the European Commission launched a six-week-long internet-based call for evidence on the economics of biodiversity loss. The Review will evaluate the failure to take protective measures, versus the costs of effective conservation and sustainable use. The results of the call for evidence will contribute to a preparatory report on the Review to be presented at the Ninth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Bonn, Germany, in May 2008 (RAPID, November 15, 2007)
