The Labour and Welfare Bureau will be setting up a Special Committee on Standard Working Hours in the first quarter of 2013, to follow up on the Policy Study on Standard Working Hours conducted by the Labour Department in November last year.

The Special Committee will comprise of government officials, representatives of labour unions, employers’ associations, academics and community leaders. The objective of the Committee is to study the viability of legislation on standard working hours and it is hoped that a way forward will be identified following the deliberations of the Committee.
