The U.S. Administration announced a series of potential reforms it will pursue relating to border security and immigration. This included a number of initiatives to ensure that U.S. employers are employing foreign workers legally.

One of the announcements included a prospective change to the NAFTA TN work visa category. Many Canadian professionals obtain TN work visas to work in the United States. The proposal would extend TN visa duration to 3 years from its current 12 months duration. If adopted, this would avoid the need to renew the TN visa every 12 months.
