Following a record annual loss of £401m, more than 30,000 British Airways workers in the UK, in an appeal sent by email in June, were asked to volunteer to take between one week and one month's unpaid leave, or unpaid work. British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh has agreed to work for free during July, giving up a month's salary of £61,000. The deductions from salaries will be spread between three and six months.
