Commission authorises €460 million funding for UK Post Office Limited

Following a notification by the UK Government in December 2006 of its intention to extend the funding to UK Post Office, which had been endorsed by the Commission in 2003, the Commission investigated whether this measure complied with the requirements for state aid in the form of public service compensation. As the compensation measures are designed not to exceed the minimum necessary for Post Office Limited to continue the public services entrusted to it, the Commission concludes that this measure to compensate costs specifically incurred by Post Office Limited is in keeping with the state aid rules.
