The UKBA has launched a simplified online service for booking appointments at public enquiry offices and biometric enrolment centres. Penningtons was invited at the end of July to preview a demonstration of the system which has now been launched to the public. The UKBA plans to roll out the online service to all applications in the future including those made through representatives.

The new service also incorporates interactive UK application forms and online payments, enabling users to book appointments and access all the information they need in one area on the website. Users will be asked to create their own account and they will be able to book and rearrange appointments online without needing to speak to a member of UKBA staff on the phone. Appointments are available to book online across the UK, although those individuals wishing to book appointments in Belfast will need to phone the immigration enquiry bureau.
