The Department of Communities and Local Government has just published its report, Transforming places; changing lives: taking forward the regeneration framework, following last year's consultation. The framework will shape the way in which regeneration is carried out nationally. The success of regeneration investment is to be judged against impacts on economic performance, creating the right conditions for business growth and creating places that people want to live.

Central Government, working with and through the Homes and Communities Agency and the regional development agencies, intends that the framework will overlay policies for creating sustainable places where people want to live, work and raise a family. The role of local government in regeneration and community engagement is clearly acknowledged, as is the key part played by the private sector and third sector organisations.
