Mississippi Code Section 21 19 67, dealing with the subdivision of lands and dedication to public use of roads, alleys and other public ways, was recently amended to clarify that any dedication of a road grants an easement interest to the municipality, not a conveyance of the underlying fee title, and the abutting land owners old fee title to centerline subject to this easement. The statute was amended in response to an attorney general's opinion that under the prior law dedication of a roadway granted a fee interest to the municipality.
