The Vancouver office of Service Canada has put into place a special process to help employers to meet Olympics related labour needs with foreign workers up to April 21, 2010.
The program also ensures that employers do try to hire Canadians and permanent residents first by ensuring minimum recruiting standards are met.
There are two streams. The first is the "primary work force opinion" which is available to employers contracted by VANOC as well as subcontractors engaged under those VANOC contracts. The second stream is called the "secondary work force opinion" which covers other employers who need workers for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
If the foreign workers are needed beyond April 21, 2010, the regular LMO process must be used.
