The statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures were repealed with effect from 6 April, although they will continue to apply in some cases during the transitional period. In their place, employers and employees are now required to comply with the new ACAS Code of Practice in most situations involving discipline and grievance. An unreasonable failure to follow the Code can result in a tribunal increasing or decreasing any compensation award by up to 25%. The Code and the accompanying ACAS guide also came into force on 6 April 2009.
