- On January 24, 2013, Sen. John “Jay” Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., Chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, re-introduced legislation to address violence in video games. Called the “Violent Content Research Act”, the bill would require the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) to study whether violent video games cause children to act aggressively, and whether their effect on children is different from violence in other forms of media. NAS would be required to submit a report of its findings to Congress and the FTC within 15 months of enactment. To read a press release about the bill, click here.
