Foreigners: Royal Decree 844/2013, of October 31, amending the Regulation of Act 4/2000, of January 11, on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain and their integration into society, approved by Royal Decree 557/2011, of April 20. (BOE 262, November 1, 2013)
This royal decree aims to end the transposition into Spanish law of Directive 2011/51/EU, concerning the status of third-country nationals who are long-term residents.
Foreigners (from non-EU countries) wishing to obtain long-term EU residence status in Spain must have:
- legal and continuous residence in Spain during five years; specificities are established for foreigners benefitting from international protection in Spain;
- fixed and regular income; and
- health insurance.
