On Aug. 25, 2009, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, Southern Division, ruled in favor of the U.S. government in Chamber of Commerce of the USA v. Beginning Sept. 8, federal contractors and subcontractors were required to use the E-Verify system to ensure their employees are legally authorized to work in the United States.
