On November 24th 2012, the Italian Antitrust Authority (also known as “AGCM”) ordered  Neomobile S.p.A to suspend the activation of non required paid mobile phone services, called  premium services, which are related to games, screen savers, apps, ringtones, sweepstakes, and obscured the banner linked  to Tekka Lab S.p.A.

During the investigation, the AGCM discovered that the two service providers breached the dispositions of the Italian Consumer Code for unfair business practices, due to the activation of premium services to uninformed consumers. The practice consisted in automatically deducting 5 euro per week from the phone credit of consumers while accessing the internet in wap and web mode after clicking or touching the link to the promotional banners of applications or websites. In addition, these service providers did not give the consumers any indication about how to disable the subscriptions.
