The DCA has published its long-awaited consultation paper Case track limits and the claims process for personal injury claims. One proposal is to increase the fast track limit from £15,000 to £25,000 for all types of claim whilst retaining the current small track limits of £1000 for personal injury and housing disrepair claims and £5000 for other types of claim. It is also proposed that the fast track limit should apply to intellectual property claims, about which issues were raised in the Gowers Review of Intellectual Property published in December 2006. The second part of the paper considers ways in which the process for personal injury claims can be improved. The consultation period ends on 13 July 2007 and the paper is available on the DCA website.
