The Council has adopted the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD). It agreed the text previously released (see FReD 11 December) without further discussion. The Council had previously published an item note to the Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER) on the adoption of the proposed directive. It noted that EP’s first reading position reflects what has previously been agreed between the institutions and that Council should be able to approve its position. Member States will have 24 months to transpose the IDD from the date on which it enters into force after publication in the OJEU. (Source: Council Adopts IDD and Council Note on IDD)

"I am a regular reader of Lexology, as are a few of my colleagues. I find the email newsfeed useful and of good quality, and in some cases directly on point with issues of concern to the company. It is important to stay current with legal developments, and the articles are a great aid toward this goal. The ability to access the articles without cost is critical and I hope Lexology continues with the good work."
