The Competition Commission has published the draft final undertakings in respect of the proposed joint venture between BBC Worldwide Limited, Channel 4 Television Corporation and ITV plc in the “video on demand” sector. The Competition Commission’s report of 4 February 2009 found that the joint venture would lead to a substantial lessening of competition and should be blocked. Each of the partners to the proposed joint venture will now give undertakings to the effect that they will not acquire any interest in each other’s video on demand operations for the next five years. Interested parties are invited to provide their comments on the draft undertakings by 8 June 2009.
