The House is considering two bills aimed at making more spectrum available to support wireless communications. The Radio Spectrum Inventory Act, H.R. 3125, introduced in July 2009 by Representative Waxman (D-CA), directs the FCC and NTIA to inventory all federal spectrum to identify bands that could be reallocated for commercial use. The Spectrum Relocation Improvement Act of 2009, H.R. 3019, introduced in June 2009 by Representative Inslee (D-WA), provides for new, streamlined processes for federal agencies vacate spectrum once it was been reallocated.
