A coalition of 64 technology companies including Microsoft, Cisco, and Symantec has dismantled a global hacking operation allegedly run by a Chinese group the coalition has dubbed “Axiom.”  According to a report released by cybersecurity firm Novetta, malware has been removed from more than 43,000 computers targeted by Axiom, including those used by government and law enforcement agencies, NGOs, Fortune 500 companies, and software companies.  Coordinating with the coalition, the FBI issued a similar warning about the Chinese hacker group last month to manufacturers of microchips and computer networking equipment and data storage service providers.
